Summary :

The match started badly for Haiti with a goal from Kenneth Vargas in the first minute after an error from Carl Fred Sainté [0-1]. In the 35th minute, Alonso Martinez doubled Costa Rica's lead [0-2], beating the Haitian goalkeeper. The "Ticos" dominated the first half.

In the second half, French coach Sébastien Migné brought on Duckens Nazon for Sainté. The Grenadiers turned the tables, earning a penalty in the 55th minute after a VAR review. Nazon, Haiti's all-time leading scorer, initially saw his penalty saved by Keylor Navas, but he capitalized on the rebound to score [1-2].

Three minutes later, Nazon equalized [2-2] with a fine volley after a header from Danley Jean-Jacques.

In the 86th minute, Nazon gave Haiti the lead with a backheel from Duke Lacroix [3-2]. However, the "Ticos" responded, equalizing in the 90th minute thanks to a long pass from Manfred Ugalde and a shot from Juan Pablo Vargas, concluding a spectacular six-goal match [3-3].

This was the 16th meeting between Costa Rica and Haiti, with Costa Rica leading the way with eight wins, six draws, and one loss. Haiti's only victory came at the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, where the Grenadiers won [2-1]. Costa Rica has won their last four matches against Haiti in World Cup qualifying.
